Mustang Helicopters answers FAQs on Grand Canyon helicopter flights.

Excursions require a minimum number of passengers to operate. Prices and schedules are subject to change without notice. A 48-hour cancellation notice is required; no-shows at time of departure will be charged in full and will not receive a refund. All times are approximate. Mustang Helicopters reserves the right to combine different length flights. Group terms may vary depending on booking time and number of guests. The maximum weight limit per person is 300 pounds and the total passenger weight on the helicopter may not exceed 1,240 pounds (seven passengers). Guests over the weight limit will be required to purchase 2 seats. Children over the age of 2 will be required to purchase a seat.

  • What type of helicopter does Mustang fly?

    Mustang flies EC-130 B4 ECO-Star helicopters exclusively. The ECO-Star is the most state-of-the-art tour helicopter flown in the world and offers the highest level of safety in the industry.

  • How fast do we fly?

    We fly the ECO-Star helicopter between 120 and 130 mph.

  • What is Mustang’s safety record?

    Mustang has the same safety rating as its sister company Maverick Helicopters, since Mustang flies under the same certificate. We're proud of having the top safety record of any tourism-based aviation company in the world.

  • Where and when will I be picked up at my hotel?

    Guests will be assigned a pickup time and location at the time of booking. Guests will be transferred via our sister company, Maverick Helicopters’ shuttles.

  • Can we sit in the front?

    We cannot guarantee or determine seating until the date of departure after all guests are weighed in. Seating is based on bodyweight and balancing of the aircraft.

  • What do I need to bring?

    Guests over 18 must bring valid photo identification in order to board the aircraft. Comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended. Cameras, binoculars and video cameras are encouraged. Also, a water bottle and light clothing are recommended for hot summer months. Gloves, scarves and heavy coats are recommended during winter months.

  • How many miles is the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas?

    Las Vegas is roughly 75 miles from the Grand Canyon.

  • What should I expect on my helicopter adventure?

    Mustang Helicopters prides itself on being the “spirit of adventure” tour company in the Las Vegas Valley. Guests will be treated to plush ECO-Star helicopters with wraparound windows for outstanding visibility and 23 percent larger cabin space than other tour helicopters. Passengers also enjoy our individual leather seating in a theater-style arrangement. Mustang’s experienced pilots give a personal narration throughout the excursion to provide you with trivia, facts and other amazing tidbits. Also, Mustang offers the chance to experience the Grand Canyon in a way you will never forget.

  • Can I cancel or reschedule my tour?

    Mustang Helicopters has a 48-hour cancellation policy. You have up until 48 hours before your flight departure to make any changes or cancellations. Changes or cancellations are not permitted within 48 hours of your flight departure. No-shows will be charged in full with no refunds.

  • What are the requirements for my child to qualify as a lap child, meaning that he/she may fly along with me on my lap without being required to purchase a seat for the child?

    Your child must be under 2 years of age, weighing 25 pounds or less. Parents are required to purchase a seat for the child if both of these requirements are not met. Parents must have proof of child’s age at check-in. We will accept passport or birth certificate.

  • Can a child/minor fly unaccompanied?

    Passengers under the age of 18 must be accompanied on the flight by an adult.

  • I’m in a wheelchair. Can I still take a Grand Canyon tour?

    Yes. To fly and be accommodated, you will need to have a collapsible wheelchair with removable wheels. You must also be accompanied by someone who can assist you with boarding and disembarking the aircraft. Maverick is ADA compliant.

  • I use an oxygen tank for medical necessity. Can I bring it on my flight?

    Mustang allows oxygen condensers and tanks as long as there is a clearly visible ‘D.O.T. Approved’ stamp or placard on it.

  • Are service animals permitted on helicopter flights?

    No. There are no service animals permitted on any of the helicopter flights. Title 14 of The Code of Federal Regulations, Part 382.117, states that animals cannot fly if “the animal obstructs an aisle or other area that must remain unobstructed to facilitate an emergency evacuation.” Every exit and aisle on a helicopter is an emergency exit and aisle. Additionally, as no one can be certain of how an animal will react when highly stressed or traumatized, their access to the flight controls is a major safety concern to all aboard the helicopter, especially in the event of an emergency.

  • Can pregnant women fly?

    Yes, pregnant women fly with Maverick often. We always recommend checking with your doctor.

  • If I occasionally suffer from motion sickness, will I have a problem during the flight?

    Motion discomfort products are available for purchase in the gift shop. Motion sickness bags are located onboard the aircraft in the seat back pockets.

  • Can I smoke during the tour?

    Smoking is prohibited onboard the aircraft and on the ramp.

  • Can I bring a beverage on the flight?

    Bottled water is the only beverage allowed to be consumed on the aircraft during flight.

  • Can I use my cellphone during the flight?

    Cellphone voice, messaging, and data use is prohibited on the aircraft. Mobile devices must be turned off or set to airplane mode prior to boarding.

  • Can I take pictures of the aircraft?

    Personal photography is prohibited on the ramp. Passengers will have the opportunity to take pictures of the aircraft after landing.

  • Can I exit the aircraft as soon as it lands?

    Passengers are prohibited from touching the doors of the aircraft unless given instruction to do so by the pilot. The pilot will open and close all aircraft doors.

  • Do pilots accept tips?

    Pilot gratuities are accepted and appreciated.

  • I did not receive my email confirmation?

    Hotmail, America Online, Yahoo! and Google email addresses are very popular and as a result receive a large amount of spam and junk email. For this reason they have junk mail filters that in some cases only allow those email addresses that are in your address book to arrive in your inbox. For this reason, it is important that is added to your address book. This will ensure that you receive any booking information or other important emails from us.
